How it works

From an idle well to clean ground.

Here is what happens after you tell us about a well. You will know where things stand at every step.

  1. You tell us about the well

Use the form to send whatever you know: where it is, what it looks like, a few photos if you have them. A county and a road are enough to start.

  2. We check the records

We look the well up in Railroad Commission of Texas records to find its history, how it was built, and who is responsible for it today.

  3. We come look at it

We visit the site, check the wellhead and the access, and tell you plainly whether the well qualifies.

  4. We line up the approvals

We work with the operator of record and the Commission so the plugging is properly approved before any work starts.

  5. We plug the well

Our crew plugs the well to Commission standard, setting cement plugs to seal it off and protect groundwater.

  6. We restore the site

Equipment comes out, the pad is cleaned up, and the ground is left ready to use again.

What you get at the end

A well that is done for good.

  • A well plugged to Railroad Commission of Texas standard.
  • The surface cleaned up and restored.
  • Copies of the plugging records for your files.
  • No cost for qualifying wells.

What makes a well qualify?

It depends on the well: its depth, how it was built, what is left in the hole, and whether we can get a rig to it. We look at each one on its own. If a well does not qualify, we will tell you that straight, and why.
